January Event—Dinner and a Play
Anyone from the congregation, senior or not, is invited to join the Senior Connection on Saturday, January 23rd for dinner and a play! What better way to start the New Year than with the return engagement of the ever-popular musical Guys and Dolls at the Surfside Playhouse on Cocoa Beach. From the heart of Times Square, to the cafes of Havana, Cuba, and even into the sewers of New York City, this oddball romantic comedy introduces us to a cast of vivid characters: Sarah Brown, the upright, but uptight, “mission doll” out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet; Adelaide, the nightclub performer with a chronic illness triggered by a 14-year-long engagement; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game. The play includes many unforgettable songs such as, “I’ve Never Been in Love Before, “Sit down! You’re Rockin’” the Boat,” and “Luck, Be a Lady Tonight.” The play promises an entertaining evening!
Our plan is to have dinner at Roberto’s Little Havana restaurant near the theater and then attend the play at 8:00 p.m. If we have 14 people, we can take the church bus. Departure time from the church will be 5:00 p.m. Ticket cost for seniors is $20; for adults, $22. Each person is responsible for the cost of his/her meal.
Please sign up by Sunday, January 17th on the Senior Connection sign-up sheet found on the bulletin board in the South Hallway. Indicate the number attending and whether you plan to take the bus. Those in the Cocoa Beach area may prefer to take their own cars. Any questions, call Pat Baggott at 632-8014.
